On 23 June 2007, Eni and Gazprom signed an understanding agreement for the South Stream gas pipeline realization.
The agreement arose within a broader strategic deal that the two companies had signed earlier and that would have granted to Gazprom to enter the market for the distribution and sale of natural gas in Italy, while Eni could have implemented research projects and extraction of hydrocarbons in Siberia.
The South Stream is a project focused on the construction of a new gas pipeline that connects Russia and the European Union directly, avoiding any non-EU country from the track.
It is a project developed jointly by Eni, Gazprom, EDF and Wintershall.

The last order executed for the project concerns five anchor wires + IWRC class 6x36WS diameter of 76 mm and a length of 2,850 meters each. related for an important platform Pipe Lay Vessel instance in the Black Sea.
At the moment steel wire ropes are sailing from Korea to Turkey, then they will be transported by truck to the final destination where the platform is anchored.
The delivery, scheduled in time, it is agreed with the customer before the end of November.
